Pecha Kucha 20x20 at Berns Stora Salongen

I am sure that the Pecha Kucha format will be known by the best majority of you, however, when I attended the event in Stockholm on the 4th of February 2014, the very founder presented it and there were some interesting facts that he mentioned I didnt know about before.
Pecha Kucha (chi-chat in Japanese) first took place in Tokyo in 2003 and was held in Super Deluxe, an experimental event space of the Klein-Dytham Architecture studio, owned by the architects Astrid Klein and Mark Dytham. It was first meant to be a networking event for architects to share ideas and present their projects.
The format grew massively and now these (20 seconds for each of 20 slides) presentations were adapted and take place globally on a regular basis. The great thing is, the format is freely available to be organised by anyone, anywhere.
In Stockholm, it took place in the beautiful Stora Salongen of the Berns, near Kungsträdgården.

Out of all the presentations, I liked Ulrika Elovsson´s one the best. She is a textile designer, who spoke beautifully of her work with Issey Miyake - a fashion design brand, concentrating on innovative weaving techniques and shaping  the garments by hot steam, avoiding any fabric cutting. She sees the start of the designing process in weaving the threads into fabric and sais "If a fabric can tell a story, a thread can tell a poem". I thought that was a beautiful thing to say. She also sais she keeps sheep in order to understand the world. :)

Ulrika Elovsson vidí základ procesu výroby oblečenia v tkaní vlákien do látok a tvrdí, že "Ak vie látka povedať príbeh, vlákno vie povedať báseň". :)

I would guess the crowd consised of around a thousand people, of all ages.

Stora Salongen.

On my way.
