Throwback: Slovak national theatre

When it gets a bit chilly, I still find it very nice to wear something that exposes a little bit of skin, especially on the legs. So right now, I´m using my very last chances to do so, just to remind myself of how nice the summer was. There´s no signs of autumn here in Stockholm yet, trees are still going strong with green-ness, only, it does get a bitt chillier early in the mornings or later in the evenings.
This post is a tribute to summer (and Ann-Sofie BACK´s collection for that summer). Pictures are analog, by my dear friend Katarina Kri, we took them in July outside one of Bratislava´s pearls, the national theatre, a post-modern monster, which was deemed never to be finished by the skeptics. Well, it did take 20 years for it to be completed and operational, however this was right on time when the metropolitan-styled contemporary residential blocks and shopping/business quarter called Eurovea was finished. I recommend going there for an evening walk and a nice dinner in one of the restaurants on the waterfront, enjoying the view of the Danube, when you end up in Bratislava.

Summery! Yes! That´s what I said to everyone; wait for the August, that´s when the summer will arrive to Stockholm. And it did.
I went home to Slovakia for a month in July and it was fantastic and then I came back to Stockholm, back to second home, work and all.
But perhaps I could rewind to about April/May. This was such a busy time! I was finishing my masters thesis on the parallels between fashion and architecture, with focus on the concept of timelessness, researching the architectonical tendencies of minimalism and modernism. At the same time, I was working full time. It was busy, but I thoroughly enjoyed both and that gave me the every-day energy and enthusiasm. Plus, I am a super result-driven type, so if the results turn to be as I planned, it fills me up with adrenalin and I get happy easily. I must say though, it was really good to be finished with the uni though.
And now I´m a double Master :D -of climbing trees and skateboarding inb Nynäshamn.

Letný! Konečne. Ale ja som to hovorila všetkým, ktorí sa sťažovali, že je v Štokholme zima: "Počkajte do Augusta, potom budeme mať leto". Aj sa tak stalo, našťastie! :) Po mesačnej dovolenke doma na Slovensku (prerušenej týždňovou služobkou v Paríži) som sa vrátila do druhého domova a leto prišlo so mnou.
Ale asi by som sa mala vrátiť späť v čase asi k Aprílu. Vtedy som dokončovala diplomovku o paralelách medzi módou a architektúrou, sústrediac sa na ideu nadčasovosti vychádzajúcej z architektonických tendencií modernizmu a minimalizmu. A zároveň som pracovala na full-time. Bolo toho vtedy veľa, ale ja som taký samobav a teším sa z blbostí a ešte viac z dôležitých vecí (a darilo sa ísť podľa plánov), takže som mala stále veľa energie a entuziazmu v práci aj vo výskume.
Ale už je to za mnou a som teraz dvojitý Master. V lezení po stromoch a skejtovaní v Nynäshamne, ha.

Hej!
Today´s post is a little different than usual, the subject of the pictures is, hmm, the dress I suppose :) -as opposed to other posts that are usually about a location. This is mainly as it was shot spontaneously on a walking journey into the town. From where I live, it´s about 5.5 kilometres to work and I walk this distance every day, so to go somewhere with the train or bus (unless you´re in a real hurry) seems almost strange to me these days.
The spring is here now, the cherry trees on Kungsträdgården are almost blossoming now, town gets busier with people, everything is in its right place :)

Hej!
Dnešnný post je trošku iný ako ostatné, zdá sa, že jeho predmetom sú tentokrát namiesto miesta tieto šaty, haha. Je to preto, že fotky vznikli spontánne pri prechádzke do mesta. Teraz na jar chodím pešo do práce, je to asi 5,5 kilometra jedným smerom. Už som si na to tak zvykla, že ísť niekam metrom (ak čas netlačí) mi príde až zvláštne :)
Jar je tu, japonské čerešne na Kungsträdgården sú v poslednom štádiu pučania, ulice sa zapĺňajú promenádnikmi a múriky pozdĺž vody sú obsadené ľuďmi so zmrzlinami. Všetko ako má byť :)

Åsoberget

Hello and Happy New Year!
We had some snowstorms lately and the whole town became beautifully white. Some seemed to have ignored this and just left their bikes on the street :) For me, it was a great chance to throw snowballs (and loads of them!). 
Åsoberget is, since 1956 a culturally reserved area on Söder, where there are wooden houses built on rocks. In the 1700s, most of the people who lived here worked in the shipyard, just down the hill. Then, it was the poor people who moved in the small houses and as it´s hard to build on the rocks, no-one really cared much about the neighborhood. Later, Stockholm´s town representativces understood, that it´s important to keep the area protected. And they are still doing a great job on that.
Åsoberget (and its views) are a must, when walking around Södermalm.

Zdravím a prajem Šťastný nový rok!
Napadal nám toľko snehu, koľko som ešte v Štokholme nevidela. Niektorí si to nevšimli a nechali na ulici bicykle :) Ja sa teším, že som si zahrala guľovačku po rokoch.
Časť Åsoberget (čítaj Ósoberjet) je od roku 1956 kultúrnou rezerváciou. Ako vidíte, drevené domčeky sú postavené zväčša na skalách. V osemnástom storočí tu žili rodiny, ktorých členovia pracovali dole v prístave pod kopcom. Neskôr pôvodné domčeky začali obývať tí najchudobnejší práve pre to, že nikto iný nemal príliš chuť zveľaďovať náročný skalnatý terén. A práve pre to sa oblasť stala chránenou a v dnešnej dobe tu žije opak chudoby. Domčeky sa ale dedia po generáciách a nikto ho len tak nepredá.
Myslím si, že ak budete už na Södri (ktorý má mimochodom iba 3x2km), mali by ste sa tam ísť prejsť, aj kvôli krásnym výhľadom :)

Watch your BACK, in Råsunda

Råsunda is an area, located northwards from the central Stockholm. Municipality-wise, it´s a part of Solna (I have shown bits of Solna here, here, here, here and here), which is claimed to be the most favourable place to live in Sweden at the moment. That would be mainly because the residents of municipality pay lower taxes, the residential blocks are relatively new, with good access to schools, parks, leisure facilities et cetera. Aside from the residential blocks with flats, there are also older, epic family houses here. As you can gather from the pictures, the area is still being constructed, wich will result in an interesting urban mixture.

What I´m wearing on these pictures are pieces from the WATCH YOUR BACK Collection, that Ann-Sofie BACK designed in cooperation with an insurance company If. The material is retro-reflective, meaning that it reflects light in many directions, depending on what angle is it cast from. The point; as with reflective materials, is to be easily spotted when it´s dark. Råsunda je oblasť ležiaca severne od centra Štokholmu. Patrí pod adminisratívnu správu Solny (ktorej kúsky som ukázala tu, tu, tu, tu a tu), ktorá je v súčastnosti v rámci Švédska poznačovaná za najpohodlnejšie miesto na život. Je tomu tak najmä kvôli relatívne nízkym dania, ktoré tunajší obyvatelia odvádzajú a vynikajúcou sociálnou infraštruktúrou. Rezidenčné bloky s bytmi sú spravidla z deväťdesiatych rokov, ale je tu aj množstvo malých rodinných domčekov. Ako vidíte na fotkách, oblasť je stále v procese konštrukcie, čoho výsledkom bude zaujímavý urbanistický mix, pravdepodobne ideálny pre rodinný život.

Na fotkách mám na sebe fragmenty kolekcie WATCH YOUR BACK, ktorá vznikla v spolupráci Ann-Sofie BACK a poisťovne If. Materiál je retroreflektívny, čo znamená, že odrazné čiastočky integrované v materiáli odrážajú svetlo, takmer ako zrkadlo, záležiac od uhla, ktorým je svetelný lúč vrhnutý. Runt Tegelviksgatan

Tegelviksgatan is a street, running across the eastern part of Stockholm´s  Södermalm, where I live at this moment. Something was on that day, connected to those veteran cars, as they were driving around in circles. Around Tegelviksgatan, there is an ex-textile producing factory (which is currently an English school), and an old Transport museum, whose demolition is currently discussed. To me, it seems a shame, as the building is beautiful, however this part of the town is very attractive and the town planners seem to think that the space would be more useful as a housing area.

Tegelviksgatan je ulica, prechádzajúca cez východnú časť štokholmského Södermalmu, kde momentálne bývam. V ten deň sa v okolí niečo dialo; po uliciach prechádzalo veľa týchto krásnych veteránov.
V blízkosti Tegelviksgatan je stará továreň na oblečenie (z ktorej sa neskôr stala anglická škola) a staré múzeum transportu a autobbusové depo, ktorému pravdepodobne čoskoro odzvoní a nahradia ho obytnými blokmi, ktoré sú podľa územných plánovačov viac potrebné, najmä v tejto atraktívnej časti mesta.
